Corazza di Coulter wallpaper comes from a single gesture of nature, enlarged until it becomes wall architecture. It belongs to the seeds and fruit genre, the family of designs WallZad devotes to the small plant masterpieces brought to monumental scale: here the subject is a Coulter pine cone, ovoid and imposing, filling the whole field from the lower edge up to the blunted tip.

Its scales wind in tight diagonal rows, spiral upon spiral, leaving no room for the ground: each one tapers into a curved woody claw, sturdy, casting its own small sharp shadow. The colour stays faithful to the wood itself — warm brown and raw sienna, sinking to an almost black chestnut in the shaded grooves, while the tips of the claws lighten into shades of straw and bone, marked by the sun. Close up you find the fine fissures of the bark, minute beads of resin, striations and a waxy sheen where the light grazes the highest reliefs.
