The story
The Anelli di Larice wallpaper comes from a patient observation: wood, when it meets the blade, does not give in but answers with circles. I belong to the family of materials, and here I tell of the style of saw-cut larch, where every board keeps the circular gesture of the tool that scored it.
The boards are laid flush, edge against edge, and on each of them concentric arcs left by the blade overlap: circles that widen and intersect where the boards meet, composing a continuous rhythm of curved bands across the whole surface. The colour is the true colour of the wood — golden amber, warm ochre, straw-coloured sapwood — crossed by darker threads of cinnamon and grey-brown, where the blade met the harder late rings. Close up, the arcs dissolve into fine parallel striations, small torn fibres, tiny knots and matt reflections that catch the light along every pass of the saw.
In this weave I see the time of the tree made visible by a human gesture: slow growth, year after year, met by the precision of the tool. It is a material that does not hide itself, that shows its history instead of sanding it away.
In the WallZad workshop every shade of the Anelli di Larice wallpaper is calibrated by hand, board after board, so that the ring of the wood reaches every interior — home, studio, hotel — with the same truth with which it was born under the blade.
