Ventagli a Snodo

So it is born, between one pivot and the next, the Ventagli a Snodo wallpaper: a design that does not hide its own mechanism but stages it. I belong to the vocabulary of Arte Madi, the movement that made the clean cut and flat colour its grammar, and here that grammar becomes hinged panels — trapezoids, elongated wedges, truncated rectangles — laid out in a fan around small circular pivots left in view, each one a turned disc with a thin dark rim and a point of light, the hinge open as if to declare the arc completed by the rotation.

The clusters gather in three or four groups of different size, one large one leading the eye, the others turning against the angle, spaced with measure so that the composition breathes even when, up close, it grows dense with marks. The colour — full red, cobalt, egg yellow, black, on raw white and a dull grey — knows no gradation: every piece is a single hue, the edges cut sharp one against the other.
