Polle di Crisocolla

In the Polle di Crisocolla wallpaper I wanted to fix the moment when stone becomes still water. It belongs to the family of bark and mineral surfaces, the style that here becomes a polished section of rock: rounded pools of turquoise chrysocolla, emerald green and deep blue held suspended like organic islands inside a vein of transparent quartz that wraps them as if it were still fluid.

The design reads as a geological study in macro: at the centre a large cluster of fused pools anchors the composition, while smaller satellite pools and quartz veins branch towards the margins, where the crystal thins and comes to resemble a mineral lace. Fine threads of ochre and limonite rust trace old fracture lines, and smoke-grey inclusions glint deep in the milky quartz.

I like to think that every stone already carries an idea of quiet within it: chrysocolla, opaque and saturated, against quartz lit from within, tells of a balance between what holds colour and what lets it pass. It is an intimate geology, able to return, across a whole wall, the same suspension found in looking at a sample under the microscope.
