Costellazione d’Ametista

Costellazione d’Ametista wallpaper comes from a single gesture of nature, brought to fill the whole wall: a flower head of Allium christophii, hundreds of small star-shaped flowers set in a radial burst on slender rays that all start from one central point.

It belongs to the flowers family, and here the style becomes almost technical drawing: each six-pointed corolla, with its darker rib and its faintly shifting surface, aligns with the others in a geometry that only nature can build without a ruler. The outer petals open fully, flattened into their star form, while towards the heart some stay closed, in bud, telling the time of the flowering. The colour slides from silvered lilac to amethyst violet, to an almost metallic grey at the tips, with small pale green stamens dotting the centre.

It is a design read from a distance as a single glow, and one that close up breaks into a thousand details: the fine weave of the tepals, the crystalline veil on their surface, the pollen settling on them like a light dust. In this double distance I find the very sense of ornament: something that welcomes the quick glance and rewards the one that stops.
