I wear the Rovine d’Arcadia wallpaper as one wears an ancient thought: with the lightness of knowing that all greatness, to last, must become discreet. I am Corinthian columns broken halfway through their rise, pediments that have lost their symmetry, fallen capitals and urns with acanthus handles, drawn with a fine, almost calligraphic ink line, without solid shadows, only line and the minute weave of hatching.
