Sillabario Cufico

The Sillabario Cufico wallpaper comes from a gesture that is both writing and architecture: a Kufic epigraphic band, made geometric, where the letters stiffen into vertical shafts that rise with a regular rhythm, like a row of silent sentinels above a field dense with tesserae. It is here that I recognise Moroccan zellij, the decorative tradition that turns the sacred word into pure design, stripping it of the curve to give it back as structure, as minimal and repeated architecture.

Beneath the band, tiny star- and cross-shaped tesserae interlock relentlessly, separated by fine ivory joint lines, like a mortar that does not interrupt but binds. Deep cobalt speaks with warm terracotta and muted ochre, in a sober palette that knows no gradation: every tessera is clean, every edge decisive, as the art of Islamic mosaic requires when applied to the contemporary wall.

I do not tell a scene, but an alphabet that becomes wall: writing turns into ornament and ornament into threshold, continuous from one side to the other without a break, made for interiors that want a wall with character, without crowding it.
