Viale di Luce Spezzata

The Viale di Luce Spezzata wallpaper comes from an idea of Sunday quiet, a tree-lined avenue opening before the viewer like an invitation to walk slowly. I imagined a long corridor of plane trees, their round crowns interlacing into a green vault above a gravel path, and I chose to tell it through pointillism, the technique that breaks light into thousands of small touches of pure colour, laid side by side without mixing on the canvas.

In the drawing there are Sunday strollers, women in long skirts, men in boaters and dark jackets, walking alone or in pairs along the avenue; wooden benches mark the rhythm of the space, set at regular intervals beneath the trees. The central perspective leads the eye towards a suspended vanishing point, while the layered green of the crowns, the warm ochre of the gravel and the violet-grey shadows alternate with touches of red, pink and yellow on the strollers’ hats and clothes.

Up close every dot stays distinct, an isolated fragment of pigment; from afar the dots merge into light, into shadow, into figure.
