Bastioni di Gessetto

The Bastioni di Gessetto wallpaper brings a chalk-drawn castle to the wall: a central tower flanked by two lower turrets, each crowned with stepped merlons, with a round arch marking the gate of the keep and three triangular flags stretching from the pinnacles as though a finger had dragged them across the chalk while it was still damp. It is the style I call Gessetto da Cortile, that of freehand drawings on a dark blackboard, where every wall and every tower stays a full patch of colour, without shading, and the outline trembles slightly where the chalk has met the rough grain of the surface.
