Corteo del Piccolo Re wallpaper tells, panel after panel, of a coronation procession held within a sequence of gilded arcades. It is the heraldic, chivalric style that guides the drawing: flat areas of crimson, royal blue and forest green stand against ivory-parchment grounds, while a fine incised line of gold draws crowns, hems, harness and frames, tracing at once the outline and the ornament of every figure.
