The story
I look at the Sezione Siderale wallpaper as one looks at a drawing just off the board: crisp, exact, still damp with ammonia and blue light. It belongs to the technical-office blueprint style, the cyanotype drawn in white ink on a Prussian blue ground, the same that once left engineering studios to pass on machines and dreams.
At the centre of the sheet a Saturn V rocket is opened in longitudinal section, from the wide base to the slender tip, the three stages stacked and numbered in circles, separated by clean horizontal lines. Five engine bells fan out below; fuel and oxidiser tanks are drawn as ellipses and cylinders fitted one into another; interstage rings mark the transitions; at the top, the command module and the escape tower close the composition. Along the body run dimension lines with fine arrows, measuring in hand-drawn figures the height of each stage, while welds, rivets, separation bolts and minute valves reward whoever comes closer.
The white of the lines and the deep blue of the ground remain the only protagonists, lit by a warm ochre reserved for the numbers and the dimensions, like a note left on purpose to be noticed. It is a design that speaks of measured ambition, of someone who looks at the sky with pencil and ruler in hand — and which we at WallZad wanted to give back in the Sezione Siderale wallpaper with the care of an original, every nuance of the exposed sheet respected in the printing, for a wall that tells of science and wonder together.
