Tempesta Serigrafica

I imagined the Tempesta Serigrafica wallpaper as a sky of paper, built lobe by lobe with the precision of a printing plate. Every cloud grows from round shapes that overlap, and each is filled with its own grid of dots: this is Screentone Ink, the technique shown here without pretence, giving volume and shadow not with shading but with the variation of the weave alone, dot after dot.

The great mass of clouds occupies the upper two thirds of the composition, asymmetrical and alive: the denser, darker lobes gather on one side, almost a weight that holds the eye, while the sparser textures thin towards the opposite margin, letting the sky breathe in a few calculated openings. Three inks alone govern the scene — a deep blue-black, a subdued slate grey, and a warm ochre that appears only along a few edges, where the light finds a gap.

Close up, the surface tells of its own making: the dots widen and tighten lobe by lobe, a slight off-register between one ink pass and the next, the fine grain of a photocopy binding each layer to the one after. No gradient, no shortcut: only decided colour areas, as true halftone printing demands.
