The story
I draw the Intreccio di Cordova wallpaper thinking of a motif that repeats without ever breaking off, like a breath that does not stop. With this design I belong to the quatrefoil style: four-lobed rounded forms that interlace and overlap edge to edge, crossing their curved outlines until they form a dense, continuous weave, with no gaps and no margins. Each lobe is filled with a full colour — deep ink blue, warm terracotta, soft ivory — and where the forms meet a thin lighter line marks the passage, giving the flat surface the illusion of layers overlapping in transparency.
The quatrefoil, before it was ornament, was architecture: rose windows, windows, openwork that let light filter through rigorous forms. Here that ancient geometry returns as a continuous fabric, with no frame and no centre, made to accompany any interior — a home, a studio, a hotel lobby — always leaving one large free wall where the wall itself can be felt. I do not tell a scene: I offer a rhythm, a weave the eye can follow without stopping, an interlace that asks not to be read but only to be lived in.
