Ogive di Melograno

I sign the Ogive di Melograno wallpaper as embroidery turned into surface: a design born from the needle that settles on the wall with the same millimetric precision as counted stitch. It belongs to the style of Florentine Bargello, the scalloped-stitch embroidery technique that for centuries dressed chests and vestments with stepped geometries, here reinterpreted for the wall.

At the centre of each cell I draw a stylised pomegranate: the fruit opens into two symmetrical halves, showing its chambers of seeds like faceted faces, topped by a small calyx and flanked by two pairs of curled leaves. Each pomegranate inhabits an ogive, a pointed arch built from stepped zigzag lines, as though they were embroidery stitches laid row over row: the ogives touch edge to edge, the fruits alternate upright and inverted, in a dense weave that knows no interruption.

The palette is that of old brocades: garnet and brick red for the pomegranate, muted gold-ochre for the lattice, olive green for the leaf accents, on a warm cream ground that lets every detail breathe, down to the minute stippling of the seeds. It is a design made to last, composing a continuous fabric able to line any room with the same tailored coherence.
