Orizzonte di Bronzo

The Orizzonte di Bronzo wallpaper comes from a precise vision: an avenue of aligned towers, each raised from a solid stone base to a slender spire crowned with light. It is the Art Deco style, with its geometric rigour and its vertical ambition, that governs every line of this composition.

I look at the scene as a photographer before real architecture: the towers march from left to right in a measured cadence, their bases in dark granite, their shafts in pale limestone marked by fluted pilasters and chevron panels, the faceted crowns catching amber against a sky turning from graphite to indigo. At the foot of the building, converging pavements and streetlamps trace a horizontal band that anchors the eye before it climbs towards the bronze pinnacles and the glazing of the ground-floor arcade.

In this design I recognise the ambition of the modern city: the promise of elevation, order made monument, light that kindles the stone from within. It is not nostalgia; it is the living memory of an age that believed in form as destiny.

For the Orizzonte di Bronzo wallpaper I chose a process that would return the depth of every cornice, the sharpness of every fluting, the burnt gold of the mullions: any room, from the private house to the hotel suite, can take in this skyline without a break, a single image crossing the wall as one architectural vision.
