The story
I call this swarm of high-top, low-top and running shoes the Rissa di Suole wallpaper, drawn with a firm black outline and a weave of dots that sculpts soles, tongues, laces and eyelets. It is the Halftone Riot style, the aesthetic of the halftone-printed comic taken to excess, where the dot becomes volume and the black line becomes framework.
The shoes pile up with no direction, no ground plane, rotated at different angles and in alternating scales: no perspective, no frame, only a continuous fabric chasing itself from one edge to the other. Red, mustard, denim blue and off-white share the surface, each shoe marked by a single tone of dotting that thins from the centre of the sole towards the edges, giving weight and relief without ever leaving the graphic mark.
For a teenager’s room I always look for the same balance: an energy that does not resemble a game but a character taking shape. Here the pattern does not decorate, it gives back a rhythm — the rhythm of someone who changes shoes as they change mood, and who finds in their own room a personal space, ordered but alive.
