Vimini Retrò

I sign the Vimini Retrò wallpaper the way one signs a family memory: with the steady hand of someone who knows the craft and the open heart of someone who loves it. It comes from an ancient gesture, the plaiting of wicker, which here becomes pure geometry — cane lozenges set on the diagonal, tied at each crossing by a stylised rope knot, as if the hands of the 1970s had drawn their craft on the wall for ever.

It is not nostalgia for its own sake: it is composed memory, made editorial. The canes follow one another with the discipline of a graphic motif, never casual, while the colour speaks of the time that has passed through them — avocado and olive green, gold and mustard in the knots, shadows of terracotta and burnt tones, chocolate outlines, and here and there a thread of coral, pastel or plum, like accents found again in a trunk.
