Vortice Assiale

I sign the Vortice Assiale wallpaper the way one signs a movement: certain that every circle keeps an axis of its own, a rotation time of its own. The design belongs to the lesson of Kinetic Art, which here is not quotation but living matter: dozens of thin circular bands nest one inside another, their centres slightly offset, so that whole stacks of circles seem to tilt and turn on distinct planes, some ellipses compressed like wheels caught foreshortened in an instant of rotation.

I composed the surface in clusters of rings of different diameter, one dominant and slightly off-centre, others smaller drawing it towards the corners, where the axes cross in dense, almost vibrating lattices. Black and white build the framework, while cadmium red, cobalt blue and acid yellow light only the points of intersection, like controlled sparks. No gradation, no shadow: only the crisp contrast, the precise compass, the line thinning along the circumference to suggest movement without ever quite granting it.

From a distance the wall pulses like a mechanism at rest; up close one discovers the minute notches, the secondary circles nested in the wider bands. It is an optical illusion that does not tire, because it stays suspended, never resolved. In the WallZad workshop every edge is calibrated by hand before printing, so that the geometry stays pure even at large format: the Vortice Assiale wallpaper thus becomes, in whatever interior receives it, a fixed point around which everything else breathes.
