Ala Corvina

I drew the Ala Corvina wallpaper as a silent homage to the black king of the skies, the raven, Corvus corax, caught in profile in its proudest pose. It belongs to the Fauna family, the repertoire of animal subjects that WallZad interprets with graphic rigour and respect for nature: here the raven becomes a solid vector silhouette, clean, with no superfluous shadow.

The heavy curved beak, the shaggy throat feathers and the wedge-shaped tail define an unmistakable profile, repeated in a sparse module: a single dominant bird in each field, surrounded by generous open space, so that the eye can rest before meeting the next. Wings and tail are cut at the edge of the tile to continue, unseen, into the following one: a flight that never breaks off.

The palette is spare and powerful — deep blue-black for the body, charcoal shading on the throat, a warm bone-white ground — while a fine comb-like striation on the throat and thin crossed weaves on the wings give back the true sheen of the feather. It is a design that does not ask for attention: it commands it, with the same quiet authority as the perched raven.
