The story
I call this composition the Anello di Orfeo wallpaper, a weave of circles with no beginning and no end, like a dance renewed at every glance.
It belongs to Orphism, the movement that dissolved form into pure colour and into the rhythm of light: here rings of uniform diameter overlap in a diagonal chain that runs across the whole surface, every band of cadmium orange, cobalt blue, violet and warm ochre alternating in a fixed sequence on an ivory ground, while at the meeting points lens-shaped faces appear, shaded in intermediate tones that vibrate like splinters of a prism.
There is no centre and no direction: the motif repeats and closes upon itself, evoking circular time, the breath that returns, the energy that never truly runs out. It is an image of continuity – the quiet certainty that every ending is already a beginning.
