Cornice di Giglio Nero

I sign the Cornice di Giglio Nero wallpaper as an act of discipline and grace together, a direct homage to the rigour of Art Deco, the style that knew how to bend nature to geometry without ever betraying its soul. The design I present to you depicts stylised lilies, reduced to faceted triangular petals, stems straightened into vertical struts, leaves cut into angular chevrons: a continuous frieze running along the four edges of the panel, set into crisp right-angle corners like the jamb of a ceremonial door. At the centre, the field remains an absolute black lacquer, silent, letting the gold of the border breathe like a jewel laid upon lacquer.

The border is composed of a symmetrical double register: an outer ring of small fan-shaped lilies and an inner one of taller blooms, spaced at regular intervals, separated by a thin gold thread that also traces the edge of the black. Every petal holds parallel engravings, every stem a double hairline stroke, every interval small diamond and fan motifs: the obsessive precision of Art Deco metalwork, translated into paper.

In our Italian workshop, I devote to the Cornice di Giglio Nero wallpaper the same care a goldsmith reserves for gold: every line calibrated, every corner mitred with exactness, so that symmetry is not rigidity but a promise of order. It is a panel conceived for a single large free wall, in whatever room one wishes to entrust it to: its composure asks for no accompaniment, only natural light and silence around it.
