The story
I am born of water that does not ripple, of a silence that rises like mist: I am the Guglie di Bruma wallpaper, dedicated to the limestone towers that stand motionless on a sheet of water wrapped in a low veil of haze. In me the vertical strength of stone lives alongside the horizontal calm of the sea, two geological timescales regarding one another without haste.
My surfaces tell of millennia: fissures, ledges, dark hollows where clumps of tenacious vegetation take hold. Three towers dominate the scene, set slightly off centre, while a procession of paler peaks dissolves towards the horizon, swallowed by the haze. I have left ample room for the water and the sky, because beauty, when it is real, has no need to fill every space.
My palette is a dialogue of limestone greys and warm browns against a silvery blue that barely reflects, fading into an all-enveloping pearl white. Close up, the layering of the rock becomes as clear as ancient writing; from a distance I become a suspended landscape, able to open any bright living room onto a horizon without limits.
