Rettilineo Fosforescente

So comes the Rettilineo Fosforescente wallpaper, a tribute to the electric night that runs through the imagination of anyone who dreams of the open road. The design belongs to the Neon Vapor Grid style, and I say so plainly: tubular lines pulsing with their own light, magenta and electric cyan, draw two rows of palms with curved trunks and fan-shaped fronds, lined up along a deserted motorway narrowing towards a low horizon. At the centre the dashed line of the carriageway runs straight, while at the far end a grid of parallel rays evokes a synthwave sun, suspended between deep indigo and a single warm band of violet and pink.

Every trunk has a different lean, a different number of fronds: the row is alive, never repeating itself identically, and this measured rhythm is what makes the whole calm rather than hypnotic. From a distance the motif reads in an instant, a single continuous scene; close up you find the double halo around each luminous line, the edge where two inks meet, the repeated precision of the night-sky fields.
