Vapore Sonoro

The Vapore Sonoro wallpaper opens in the Neon Vapor Grid style: a boombox seen head-on, its two round speakers, the cassette window with the spools visible, the top handle, the row of knobs and buttons, the telescopic aerial straight as a ruler, all traced in neon outlines pulsing over a grid of perspective lines converging on a low horizon.

The drawing is built like a screen-printed poster: every outline is a separate pass of ink, and where the hot pink meets the electric cyan along the edge of the speakers the slight misregistration typical of multi-plate printing remains. Below, a single magenta pass draws the grid; behind, a band of sunset orange warms the horizon, while the rest of the body stays a solid black silhouette, sharp as a sign.

Up close the drawing does not tire: the halftone screen inside each cone fades from dense dot to bare paper, the line of the aerial stays strictly straight, and the pink settles a little thicker along every curve, the physical proof of a plate pulled by hand. It is a centred, symmetrical image, made to be read from one end of the room to the other and to reward whoever comes close.

For WallZad I wanted to return the discipline of the original screen print without taming it: every plate stays legible, every colour decided, never blended.
