Obliquo Netto

I sign the Obliquo Netto wallpaper as a gesture repeated endlessly, a writing of lines that knows no hesitation. It belongs to black-and-white hatching, the graphic discipline that reduces the mark to its most severe essence: I depict a dense mesh of parallel lines, thin and identical, set at forty-five degrees, following one another without ever varying angle or spacing, covering every centimetre of the surface with no gaps and no pauses.

There is no shadow, no gradation: only pure black incising the white, in a taut, almost mechanical rhythm that is nonetheless alive with a subtle tension. Every line stays straight, of equal weight to the others, as if an endless hand had traced the same gesture thousands of times without ever tiring. In this repetition I find discipline and freedom together: geometry does not impose coldness, it gives order to whoever looks at it, a regular breath for the eye.

I think of this design as a silent score, where the silence between the lines counts as much as the line itself. It is a minimal architecture that speaks with every room — the home, the study, a hotel lobby — without ever imposing itself, yet defining the space with absolute precision.
