Occhi di Terracotta

I call this design the Occhi di Terracotta wallpaper; it belongs to the large family of polka dots, here reinterpreted as concentric circles: each circle holds a thinner ring and, at the centre, a solid core, forming discs that look like small targets set on an orderly, regular grid.

No gradation, only flat, clean fields of colour: a fine outline separates each ring precisely, while an even density lets the pale ground breathe between one disc and the next, in a texture that repeats seamlessly.

The palette is earth and sun — deep terracotta, warm ochre, soft cream — colours that speak of the oldest Italy, of roofs and kiln-fired clays. Every circle is a small silent target, a geometry that does not shout but accompanies, repeating without ever tiring the eye.

In the design I recognise an old thought: the circle within the circle as an image of time repeating, of the centre that contains and protects. It is an order that reassures, able to inhabit a house, an office or a hotel lobby with the same ease.

In the repeat that runs without visible joins I recognise WallZad's craft: every tone calibrated, every margin invisible, so that the Occhi di Terracotta wallpaper can dress a whole wall like a single chromatic breath, without interruptions, without hesitation
